About the event

The Paddle

Paddle Scotland's oldest canal, The Firth and Clyde, from Glasgow to Edinburgh over two days, taking in The Falkirk Wheel, the worlds only rotating boat lift.

Team Challenge

This is a team challenge, (not a race!) build your team with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8, support each other to reach the end together in one piece.

The Party

Join us  Friday and Saturday, for 2 nights of paddling in the central belt of Scotland paddling between out two largest cities, with an afterparty like no other.

Day 1

Start in Glasgow. Get tae Fk (Falkirk) 

Day 2

Start in Falkirk or Linlithgow. Get tae the captial (Edinburgh)

Teams of up to 2 - 8 can work together to get from Glasgow Speirs Wharf, all the to Edinburgh over 2 days. Start together and finish together. 

Recreational paddlers - 37km and 37km

Pro paddlers - 37km and 52km

Day 1 - 37km (average speed 4.5km/h)

8:00-8:30am - Registration - Tell us your here and grab your goody bag 

8:30am -8:45am - Paddle briefing

8:45am-8:55am - Get on the water

9:00am - Paddle begins

Arrival to base of Falkirk Wheel with your team - Cut off is 5pm

5:30pm - Spin around Falkirk Wheel to finish the day

6:30 Soup and sandwiches at the wheel.

Day 2 - 37km (4.5km/h)

Launch Linlithgow

8:00-8:45am - Registration - Tell us your here and grab your goody bag 

8:45am-8:55am - Get on the water

9:00am - Paddle begins

Arrival in Edinburgh (Lochrin Basin) with your team - Cut off is 5pm

OR

Day 2 Pro - 52km (average speed +6.5kmh)

Launch top of Falkirk Wheel

7:00-7:30am - Registration - Tell us your here and grab your goody bag 

7:30am -7:45am - Paddle briefing

7:45am-7:55am - Get on the water

8:00am - Paddle begins

Arrival in Edinburgh (Lochrin Basin) with your team - Cut off is 5pm

TRANSFER POLICY

Tickets are purchased per person. 

Our no.1 objective is to fully support you and get you to the start line. However, understandably, life can throw up the odd challenge that might prevent you from attending.

Refund Policy

  • 100% Refund if canceled more than 90 days before event start time.
  • 0% Refund if canceled less than 90 days before event start time.

Change Team Members

Participant name change will remain free and the above transfer policy also applies if you decide to transfer your place to a friend or family member.

Central Belter Event does not under any circumstances offer a refund for non-attendance. Our system is simple and fair, it rewards participants for entering early and enables us to keep admin fees as low as possible.

All those wishing to take part in the event must be self sufficent as a team, be able to self rescue and raise alarm to a standby contact if they need to get off of the water before the finish. We will have trackers on each team captain. 

***Teams are responsible for sorting out transport at the start and finish of each day.***

Saturday night we will host a party in Edinburgh with a prize giving and raffle so make sure you don't miss out!
